This course has been designed to give students an overview and introduction to the laws, regulations, ethics and practices of MMA Referees. It should be used in conjunction with the MMA Referee Workbook and is intended to help students prepare to apply for licensing within their states. This is NOT a course in MMA techniques, although links to other resources may be provided for those who need a refresher or an overview. These lessons are intended to help the student focus on making the transition to referee and to review the implications of the MMA Unified Rules of Conduct (MMAURC).

The primary purpose of this course, used in conjuction with the MMA Referee Workbook and hands-on experience, is to demonstrate the required knowledge and expertise to a licensing board. It is not a replacement for individual training in the relevant techniques or for studying the MMAURC.

Please note that taking an online course is not the only thing you should be doing. It is important you train in the sport -- that is train in the various martial art systems that make up the sport -- and keep up your training. An MMA Referee is only as good as his/her personal abilities, knowledge and background.
